Weeks end

Saturday:  We are both feeling much better.  Our colds have just about gone.  First colds we have had for a few years.  It wasn't too bad.  It made us miserable the first few days and nights here at the MTC, now we are just about back to normal.  The dining room here is an interesting place.  It is fascinating to watch the many elders and sisters coming and going, choosing their food (some choices are interesting) with care and selectiveness.  Desserts seem to be popular and fruit.  All colors, shapes and size of elder is seen here and sisters.  Mostly youngsters from nineteen years to about twenty five.  Then the gap goes up to the senior couples with an average age of about sixty five.  Our group of seniors (about thirty couples) represent about that many states and a few other countries.  They are going all over the world and  share a common purpose that bonds us as long time friends.  We have a chinese couple who have lived in Canada for twelve years and now have been called on a mission to the Hong Kong temple and an african american couple from the eastern U.S. who are gung ho Obama supporters.  He was a union organizer and she was a school teacher.  They have served in many leadership positions in their wards and stakes and now are heading off to serve in another calling that will be an adventure for them. It would be nice to have another reunion at some future time with this group but it isn't going to happen.  We are all involved with our own families and other friends and associates to the point that there is not time for one more group to meet.  It's a little sad but counterbalanced with the prospects of meeting other interesting people in the near future with a longer period of time to become acquainted.  So here we are.  We traveled home in our car this morning and did some laundry, errands, and other chores before returning this afternoon.  Since the weather had deteriorated badly causing bad roads and many fender benders along the way, we took the truck back to the MTC.  After dinner we went to the gathering room in our building, comfortable chairs etc, and discovered that about four or five couples from our group were there.  Everyone has a laptop and is doing what we are doing.  Staying in touch with our loved ones by email, or blog and trying to do a little bill paying etc.
